So I thought I should probably write something about myself other than the fact that I have to use my entire given name.

Brief Bio: A mostly digital artist, I’m from rural Kansas, but have spent the past nearly four years in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, which has given me the fate of many Psychology majors: Administrative Work.

I’ve not much schooling in art technique, past that which I obtained in high school many moons ago. I intend to get enrolled in some digital art/graphical design certificate/associate’s degree from the local community college this summer.

I enjoy role playing games (like D&D), punk(?) music, and painting. I hate administration.

Art History: I think it was because of a boyfriend and best friend that I ended up in art club my sophomore year of high school in Osawatomie, Kansas. Throughout my education I had been enrolled in the Gifted and Talented program, and my excellent, much appreciated Gifted Educator had always encouraged my interest in artistic pursuits, including an interest in calligraphy that actually allowed me to learn to write legibly. I’d not had much opportunity or drive to work on art, believing, as most do, that I was not good at it. It didn’t help that I actually missed the art class in middle school because I was enrolled in Gifted instead. When I made it into the art club, I found I really really really enjoyed art and I wanted to do it for myself too, not just to be like my friends. I specialized in traditional media then, specifically graphite drawings, oil pastels, & photography (one day when I visit my mom’s house again I’ll dig up all that stuff and get it on here-some of it is actually not all that bad).

My senior year of high school I discovered Photoshop and was on my way to my newfound preference of digital art. I tried and tried and tried (as many of my fellow digital artists know well) to get decent results with the mouse, and it wasn’t until after I got my mom to get me my refurb’ed Wacom Graphire 2 (in Ruby :) ) tablet that I really started to produce decent (?) art.

Preferred Methods/Media:
I’ve tried other programs but I like Photoshop the best. I am currently using the CS2 version. As far as traditional media I like strathmore paper, and regular drawing pencils, softer leads usually. I tend to actually prefer cheap mechanical pencils, specifically the Bic grip, with 7mm lead.

Preferred Subject Matter: Fantasy generally. I have mostly done character portraits for my own and others.
